So far I have given a little peek at two of my dogs ~ Bear and Nikki... now it is time for Paddi. Paddi is actually the most gentle and loving of all the dogs. He is a definate pleaser and just wants to be loved. He is also a protector. When we first got him from the humane society he was very stiff. He was only 6 months old but had been through so much and had no clue what love and affection were. He was definately NOT a lap dog, but he did warm up to playing with Nikki. We actually got him to be a playmate for Nikki. She was driving Bear crazy ~ she was a 6 month old terrier puppy with a ton of energy, and he was a 6 year old laid back corgi mix....he wanted nothing to do with her playtime. So, after a while we found Paddi. Paddi is a terrier too, so he could hang in with Nikki and all her energy. After about a year he actually became a loving dog. He was never mean, but just awkward and stiff whenever we tried to hug him. Now he just loves to get attention - so much so that he will push the other dogs out of the way to get to me for petting or a hug!
Paddi has also come out as the most protective of all the dogs. He has no real preference - he protects whoever he thinks needs it! A friend has a little 4 year old boy. When he comes over, Daisy tries to get him....Paddi goes after her and deflects her away from the boy. Then he jumps up in the chair and stands by the boy.... daring Daisy to come anywhere near. He has also come to my defense when Terry starts clowning around messing with me!
The cutest thing about Paddi is his do-wop curl! Paddi has short fur that doesn't need cutting, but between his eyes is a different story! Between his eyes he has some long blond hair that swoops up towards the top of his head then curls back down towards the bridge of his nose - forming one large loop. We have a basic rule... when the curl touches the nose, we clip it in half! If we cut it too short it looks like a fan of fur between his eyes!!
Most times Paddi is a sweetheart... but there are times when he gets on my last nerve! Paddi doesn't always want to go outside and we can easily tell when he decides "no way"!!...If he doesn't want to go then, as soon as we say the words.."who wants to go out" or " who wants to go potty", he takes off up the hallway to the bedroom....then disappears under the bed! It is really annoying when we are trying to get them all out the bck door. The good news is that if he really needs to go "potty" he will go outside.... and he will also get our attention and let us know when he needs to go too! He is probably the best behaved of the lot....and he keep Daisy amused too!....... next is the real character...Tman's Lost Daisy Belle a.k.a Daisy.................

The Escapades Continue
Doggy escapades....so are the days of our lives! .... yea, I know...sounding like a soap opera! lol
So, the last "episode" we left Bear with his "monk" and moved on to Nikki with her blanket obsession. I'm not sure if she notices us laughing at her sometimes as she tries to get "comfortable". This dog is not happy just laying on her blanket... she likes to be cocooned! She uses her nose and roots up under the blanket, then works hard trying to throw the blanket over her head to give herself the optimum opportunity to wiggle her way under. Once she has achieved this, she proceeds to wind the blanket around her to form her cocoon. Only once this is done does she finally settle down in comfort. Many times this process can take over 5 minutes... which may not be too long, but it does seem to keep going! Sometimes she has an up-close observer as Daisy stands over her watching the "creature" moving under the blanket. What is really funny is when Daisy seems to be unaware Nikki is under the blanket and she gets startled when the blanket starts moving! She jumps back and gets her ears perked up waiting to see what is going to emerge! Nikki doesn't just limit herself to the blanket though....we have noticed her messing with the large doggie pillow sometimes too. Just like with the balnket, she is not very interested in just laying on the pillow....she likes to get up under the pillow! I am not real sure what her issue is...but she loves being hidden...maybe it is so Daisy won't bother her...hmmmmmmmm
Have you ever noticed how dogs seem to sleep the day away? My dogs sleep most of the morning, play a little, then take their afternoon nap. It amazes me how much they can sleep....and they do not like to be disturbed! But forbid I should take a nap!! Nikki is a bossy little princess and thinks she rules everything! If I dare to doze off in the recliner, I usually get rudely awakened by Nikki's barking! When I open my eyes I see her sassy little self, sitting on her rump in begging mode, swatting her paws at me. If I close my eyes back she barks at me again! At times when I was kicked back in the recliner with my feet up, she would be standing up with her paws on the foot rest looking at me. She has even been known to jump up on my chest and looked down at me......apparently she gets determined that I am not to nap when she is awake!........ talk about being ruled by the dogs!
Nikki is very funny to watch, and is a bossy little lady, but she is also a prissy thing! She hates getting her paws wet.... it is so funny seeing her "high-stepping" the wet grass and puddles when she goes outside! Once she is finished with her business, she retreats to the laundry room outside and curls up safely on her dry spot! She really freaks out when there is snow on the ground too........ what a hoot! My next episode will be all about Paddi.....so stay tuned...........

Doggy Escapades
As I mentioned in my last post, my dogs offer a lot of entertainment ~ Some days are crazier than others! One thing that is not entertaining is the constant response to noises outside. We have new neighbors across the street and they are not at all considerate of others! There is no reason to constantly slam your car doors or to play music really loud in your car and inside the house! Everytime my dogs hear the doors slamming they start barking and run to the door. It is so loud, the dogs think someone is in our driveway and coming to the door! They get so much traffic over there, it makes you wonder exactly what is going on!! Anyhow... they obviously haven't gotten the memo that my dogs police the neighborhood traffic! lol
My dog Bear has his favorite toy - we call it "monk". It is actually a lamb's wool bull, but his original toy was a monkey.... so every toy after that has been "monk". The original monk, as well as the second monk, was destroyed by Nikki. Now Bear is very protective of his monk. He doesn't like to play with it, he just carries it around or has it laying near him. If the other dogs are playing and get too close to monk, Bear snatches it up and runs off to hide it! Sometimes Daisy gets ahold of monk and plays with it...Bear keeps an eye on her and, once she drops the toy and is distracted, he runs over and "rescues" monk!! If Bear goes to bed and realizes monk isn't in his bed, he rushes back to the living room to find monk then totes him off to bed. Watching Bear and his behavior towards his "monk" is so similar to little children and their favorite teddy bear, "blankie", or binky. I bet most pet owners can share similar stories about their pet's favorite toy.....or blanket (Nikki has a favorite blanket)..... more later............

My Dogs r My Kids
So many people think you have to have kids to be complete. Many people love to share stories about their kids and share every little thing they think is so cute and adorable. I may not have human children, but I do have four dogs who are a lot like kids!! I think I will share some of my stories about my "children" from time to time too. People may think I am weird and many people think they are "just animals".... but spend some time with an "animal" and learn a few things. Each of my dogs have their own distinctive personalities! Today I will introduce you to my cast of characters....... I have Bear - the old man who just wants some love and a comfortable place to sleep...and don't forget to keep the food and water bowls full. He was born in our closet afterwe got his mother from the Humane Society - we had to find her another home because she got way too nuts! - but Bear has been with us for over 13 years! Then we have Nikki who we rescued when she was 6 months old. She had been thrown out like garbage alongside a road when someone found her and turned her over to the Humane Society. It took a long time before we could walk her anywhere near any traffic.....she used to be a real brat, but she has matured with
age - she has been with us now for 7 years! She is definate about what she wants... and don't bother her about going outside in the morning - she will let you know when she is ready to rouse from the bed and go out to potty (usually around 9 or 10am!). She also lets you know when it is time to go to bed at night. We also have Paddi (short for Paddi-Whack).... he was unusually aloof when we first got him, but now he loves attention and hugs. He has become the protector. Unfortunately for him, he is also our youngest dog's favorite playmate!! The baby, Daisy, is our only dog that is not a Humane Society rescue. She is our miniature Schnauzer and thinks everything and everyone belongs to her!!! She guards the toys and bones and lets the others know when they can have them. She is so much like a little 2 yr old child...has her temper tantrums, hogs the bed, and wants attention when she wants it!! She is the only one of our dogs who loves to sleep on her back...sprawled out on our bed! She will be 2 years old on December 23rd.
Well, that is our brood....... they entertain us a lot and annoy us some too. The best thing about having dogs instead of kids....when they really get annoying we can always put them outside in the pen! Try THAT with a child !! lol

Intro
Lost 'n Bound......was not real sure of that name for my blog...but my husband liked. Lost is how I have been much of my life. I guess that is why I settled on using it as my moniker on the internet. Some know me as lost_yank , others as Lost67...either way I am just me. Many of us feel lost in some part of our lives, I think by recognizing this about myself I become stronger.
I don't know how interesting my blog will be, especially since I am not very blog-savvy, but I will share my thoughts and stories .... and if they entertain, amuse, or enlighten anyone - then Great! ...if not - sorry...........................
